Who We Are, and Why We Care

Get to know us—the experienced, attentive clinicians behind VitalStep. We’re committed to helping you move forward and get the most out of life, one step at a time.

A Passion for Movement. A Heart for Care.

We started VitalStep Allied Health with a simple mission – to make quality therapy more accessible for people who need it most. Whether you’re living with chronic pain, recovering from injury, or navigating the challenges of ageing or disability, we’re here to walk beside you with compassion, knowledge, and personalised care.

Our Story

VitalStep began organically as a response to requests for home-visit physiotherapy around Mt Barker and has grown ever since. We saw the gaps in care many people faced: short session times, accessibility barriers, disjointed treatment from rotating providers, and generic plans.

As a small, family-run local business, we’ve built something different. Today, we meet you in your own space—both your living room and your unique journey. From in-home aged care and NDIS support to continuity with a consistent provider, everything we do rests on the belief that therapy should be supportive, personalised, practical, and empowering.

Our services also include clinic-based care at Plantagenet Medical, where we continue to offer a range of Physiotherapy services, supporting the wider community with musculoskeletal physiotherapy, injury rehabilitation, chronic pain management and lifestyle health services.

What Sets Us Apart

In-Home Convenience

For Support at Home & NDIS participants, we come to you. No travel to coordinate, no waiting rooms—just supportive care in the place where you feel most at ease.

Tailored to You

Every plan is built around your goals, lifestyle, and health needs, no one-size-fits-all here. We work alongside your healthcare team and support people to ensure you're getting the best possible care.

A Team That Truly Cares

You’re more than a patient to us, you are our neighbours and our community. We listen, encourage, and walk the journey with you—prioritising continuity and genuine connection.

Meet the People Behind VitalStep

We’re Nathan and Clare—the husband-and-wife team behind VitalStep Allied Health.

We both found our way to the field of healthcare through a mix of personal curiosity and lived experience which showed us firsthand how transformative the right combination of manual therapy, targeted exercise, lifestyle changes and a meaningful therapeutic relationship can be. Between us, you’ll find a physiotherapist and a remedial massage therapist who genuinely love what we do. We care deeply about the people we work with and are constantly learning, refining our approach, and endeavouring to live the advice we give.

For now, Clare is working behind the scenes while on maternity leave, so Nathan is the face you’ll meet at your door or in the clinic.

Our Lead Physiotherapist

Nathan Graham

With over ten years of clinical experience, Nathan brings a practical, whole-person approach to physiotherapy. He’s particularly interested in how daily habits—sleep, nutrition, stress, and movement—shape pain and recovery, and combines this big-picture thinking with hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, myofascial cupping and personalised rehabilitation programs to manage pain, enhance mobility and support overall wellbeing.

Grounded in evidence-based practice and his background in Clinical Science (Osteopathy) and Physiotherapy, Nathan adapts his methods to the individual. He brings lifestyle medicine into play to create lasting change, and mitigate chronic inflammation and disease.

When he’s not with patients or doing paperwork you’ll find him surfing, running, or spending time with family and friends.

Qualifications:

  • Masters of Physiotherapy, University of Canberra
  • Bachelor of Clinical Science Osteopathic Medicine/Osteopathy, Southern Cross University
  • Board Certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine
  • Additional training: Dry Needling, Low Level Laser Therapy, Functional Movement Systems (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Myofascial Cupping, Geriatric Physiotherapy
